10 Ways to have the ultimate November in Ottawa


1. Get a group together to get fit for less

2. Start your Christmas Shopping early


The 43rd annual Nepean Sportsplex Christmas Craft Show is happening November 3 to 6! The show will feature over 140 talented Canadian artisans, artists and designers, with creations including clothing, jewellery and Christmas decorations that make great gifts. Parking is Free at the Nepean Sportsplex.

McNabb Community Centre's annual Christmas Craft Sale will be happening November 28 from 10 am to 4 pm.  Vendors will be selling homemade gifts, food and more.  Free admission and free parking!

3. Get excited for a Holiday Workshop 


Think it's too early to start planning for the holidays? Think again! Registration for the City's many Christmas and winter holiday workshops and day camps has already begun. With dazzling activities such as games, sports, crafts and skating, there's plenty of holiday fun to be had. Register now!

Get into the holiday season by creating unique handmade ornaments with the family to Trim your tree or count down the big day by creating an Advent Calendar! 

4. Plan a Party!


It's almost Christmas Party Season! Is your living room big enough for the staff holiday get-together? Don't panic! Check out our 20 featured facilities with rooms of many sizes, all across the City. Photos and video tours will help you find your ideal location.  Our affordable and accessible spaces come with tables, chairs and parking. 

5. Jump, jive and wail at the City's Big Band Dances


Adults of all ages are invited to Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre to swing to the hits of the 40's and 50's! People come from all over to hear the sounds of Ottawa's best Big Bands and dance the night away!  Deck the Halls on Thursday, December 1, featuring The Starlighters, Tickets are $19.50 in advance or $23.50 at the door and include a light lunch. 6. Pretend like it's still Summer, and Ride the surf at the City's wave pools

8. Volunteer at an outdoor rink!


The community outdoor rink program is recruiting. Join the hundreds of community-based volunteers who devote their time to provide access to affordable winter recreational activity every year!

9. Youths unite!


Ottawa youth have plenty to keep them busy - school, homework, extracurricular activities and social media. Why not try something different? The City of Ottawa offers great opportunities for youth to hang out, make friends and have a blast at our various youth nights. They'll experience a ton of cool activities, movie and pizza nights, special events and even out-trips! Youth night programming is offered for both tweens and teens and is supervised by qualified staff. Best of all, many of the activities are free!
