Shooting investigation on Monterey Drive

 (Ottawa) –On Friday, November 17, 2017, at 7:00am, Ottawa Police Service received 911 calls regarding a shooting taking place near and around the 50 to 100 block of Monterey Drive.  

Frontline officers attended the area and located a male in his 20s injured from a gunshot wound.  No suspect(s) were on scene.   A crime scene perimeter was established.   The male victim was transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries and was considered in stable conditions at hospital.   

Patrol officers and investigators continued in trying to locate suspect(s).   Later in the morning as this investigation moved forward, a male suspect was arrested.

Austin Riley EMMERSON, 18 of Ottawa, is facing charges of:

·         Attempt to commit an offence, Break and Enter      
·         Discharge firearm with intent
·         Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device
·         Possession of a weapon
·         Unauthorized possession of a firearm
·         Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
·         Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
·         Pointing a firearm
·         Breach of Probation

To note that the victim of the gunshot wound in this case is also the person believed to be the person in possession of the firearm at the time of the offence.

The investigation continues.
